Airdrie Canvas Inc is a canvas & synthetic fabric manufacture & supplier based in Airdrie, Alberta Canada. It was founded to provide “round the corner service” to the Airdrie and surrounding area.
Airdrie Canvas is owned by Tom & Lynda Barker. Tom has over 40+ years of experience in the canvas industry, from Montreal, Quebec, the heart of the textile industry, to Calgary, Alberta. Tom has worked in every aspect of this industry from sales,to cutter, seamstress trainer and production manager. As Quebec was fast becoming a compulsorily french language province, Tom chose to close his business in Montreal, and move to Toronto. There, he obtained a diploma in the production management industry. Armed with his extensive knowledge in the textile trade, and now his diploma in material management & handling, Tom came to Alberta, where he continued working in the industry. After moving to Airdrie, with his wife Lynda, Tom has discovered there is a need in Airdie for a canvas business. He has chosen to take up this challenge, and thus started Airdrie Canvas Inc.
Tom is very well known in the industry throughout Canada and has an impeccable reputation. This has served him well through the years, as well as in his current venture; Tom successfully secured all major suppliers, in Canada & US, prior to opening.
Lynda is a certified management accountant of 20+ years. Lynda has extensive experience in financial matters, as well as superior organization, and business acumen skills.
Airdrie Canvas Inc supports local businesses with local talent: all current personnel are residents of Airdrie.
Rachel Tschetter began with Airdrie Canvas at the beginning of 2008 as chief seamstress. Rachel was new to this trade and has taken to it very well, showing her flair for fine detail and perfection and exercising her creative talents when tackling a custom job. Rachel has used all types of sewing and cutting machinery since beginning with Airdrie Canvas and has become very adept within a very short period of time.
Airdrie Canvas Inc. has established a highly effective & synergistic team,; Tom has the industry knowledge, Lynda the financial and regulatory knowledge, Rachel her exemplary abilities on the production floor.
